A Message From Our Program Manager
The Guideposts for Kids Comfort Kit program started with the simple idea to give gifts to hospitalized children. Ten years later, we have reached more than 160,000 children, hosted Kids Appreciation Days around the country, and received an outpouring of praise from children, parents, and hospital staff. Putting smiles on young children’s faces, calming their fears and comforting families help us to live out our mission in making a difference.
Thank you so much to each and every person who helped us to grow this program into what it is today. Whether you distribute kits in your hospital, donate to the program, or simply follow us on social media, you are making a difference and helping us continue spreading comfort and joy. I hope you enjoy exploring our site: you’ll find touching stories from Comfort Kit recipients, fun and easy ways to get involved, adorable photos from our gallery, and more! Thank you for being a part of our Comfort Kit family – here’s to the next 10 years!

Comfort Kit Program
It’s hard enough for some adults to go to the hospital, but for a sick child it can be very frightening. Even though caring doctors and nurses do everything they can to make a child’s stay comfortable, living with an illness or injury can be a lonely, scary experience. And that’s why Guideposts Outreach created the Comfort Kit - a small box with a huge impact. Tested extensively and proven effective, this unique kit enables sick or injured kids feel less anxious about their surroundings and medical treatments. “Sparkle” the caring star pillow for holding close to the heart, a “My Special Care Journal” for expressing hopes and concerns, and an “I’m special” bracelet are just a few items in the kit that help bring joy, hope and comfort to the ones we love the most. Guideposts Outreach makes these kits available FREE to hospitals across the country.
In the ten years the program started, we have distributed over 160,000 kits to sick and injured children across 500 hospitals in 48 states. With your help, we can reach children in their greatest moments of need.
When Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and his wife Ruth Stafford Peale co-founded Guideposts in 1945, they envisioned an organization that would help people from all walks of life achieve their maximum personal and spiritual potential. The Peale legacy continues powerfully today in our vision for the future, which is to offer people products and services that inspire, encourage, and uplift.
